Details
A jury returned a verdict finding that Plaintiff had proven that his race and/or sex were motivating factors in Defendant's decision to terminate his employment. The court held there was sufficient evidence for a reasonable jury to reach this verdict. However, it reduced the jury award of punitive damages from $10 million to $300,000.
On appeal, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the verdict but set aside the award of punitive damages.
